Vivo X90 Review: A better option against its Pro variant at a lower price

Today, we're reviewing the base variant of the Vivo X90 family, the Vivo X90. The Vivo X90 serves as an excellent alternative and competitor to its Pro variant. Priced at Rs 59,999, the X90 brings the high-end features of the Vivo X90 Pro to a wider audience.

Design:

The Vivo X90 is practically a mirror image of the X90 Pro in terms of design. The main noticeable change is the presence of a shiny rear side instead of the leather back found on the X90 Pro. Additionally, the X90 is slightly lighter than its Pro counterpart, making it comfortable to operate with one hand. While the X90 offers IP64 protection, it falls slightly short of the IP68 rating found on the X90 Pro.

Display:

The X90 has a 6.78-inch OLED screen, a 120Hz refresh rate, 10-bit colour depth, 1260x2800 pixel resolution, and HDR10+ certification, the X90's screen produces bright, vibrant, and punchy colours. The sharp and high-quality display makes for an enjoyable viewing experience. Furthermore, with a peak brightness of 1300 nits, the screen remains visible even in challenging lighting conditions.

OS:

The phone runs on Android 13, customized with Funtouch 13.

Processor:

The new X90 keeps up with its Pro variant. It utilizes the same Dimensity 9200 chipset, built on the 2nd generation TSMC 4nm process. Featuring eight cores, including a Cortex-X3 core clocked at 3.05GHz, three Cortex-A715 cores clocked at 2.85GHz, and four Cortex-A510 cores clocked at 1.85GHz, the X90 offers smooth multitasking and gaming experiences. The X90's 12GB RAM and 256GB internal memory further support its impressive performance.

Camera:

The primary lens is a 50MP lens, and c comes with an f/1.8 aperture, PDAF, Laser AF, and OIS. It comes with the power of Zeiss and T coating, ensuring excellent image quality. The 12MP ultrawide lens remains unchanged, featuring an f/2.0 aperture.

The X90 impresses with its level of detail and natural-looking photos. The dynamic range is excellent, and the contrast is well-balanced. Colours are preserved accurately, resulting in vibrant and striking visuals. Additionally, the camera offers a high-resolution mode that captures stunning 50-megapixel photos. Surprisingly, the image quality in this mode rivals that of regular photos. The X90's camera excels in portrait photography, delivering precise subject separation and efficient capture.

Even in low-light conditions, the X90's primary camera shines. It produces exceptional detail, accurate exposure, and commendable noise reduction. Colours remain vivid and saturated, enhancing the overall appeal of the photos. The camera's dynamic range is impressive, with minimal instances of overexposed highlights. Notably, the X90 utilizes multi-image stacking to create these stunning shots, evident by a slight one-second delay before capturing the photo. For sharper and more detailed low-light images, we recommend using the Night mode.

For selfies, the X90 boasts a 32MP lens that captures incredibly detailed and sharp self-portraits without excessive retouching. The camera excels at contrast, dynamic range, and colour accuracy while keeping noise levels to a minimum.

Battery:

The Vivo X90 is equipped with a 4,810mAh battery. Thanks to the efficient power management of the latest processor, the X90 comfortably lasts a day on a single charge. For charging, the phone supports a 120W fast charger, which fully charges the device in approximately 35-40 minutes. The X90 also offers 50W fast wireless charging, reverse wireless charging, and reverse wired charging.

Verdict:

The new Vivo X90 is a smart choice for buyers. If you are a Vivo lover and prefer its flagship range, then the new X90 is the best option at a lower price.
