HP Pavilion Plus 14-inch Review

The work culture today requires a compatible companion which you can carry around anywhere without feeling the load of it. To ease up the burden on your shoulders HP has introduced its latest HP Pavilion Plus 14 which is light in weight and comes with a 12th Generation Intel Corei5 processor, Intel Iris Xᵉ Graphics, and 16GB of RAM. We are going to shed some light on all the pros and cons of the new HP Pavilion Plus 14 in this review of ours.

Design

The new HP Pavilion Plus 14 has an aluminum exterior, and there aren't any significant visual differences between it and its predecessor. The design is clean and uncomplicated, and the back features a large HP logo. The body is made of metal, and despite the metal built it is so light and portable. To prevent the display from coming into contact with the keyboard, the display's bezel has a plastic liner. The webcam is positioned in the middle of the display. One can spot the ventilation bar located just below the bar hinge. The hinge opens to a maximum of 120-125 degrees. Two speaker outlets are located on the two corners at the bottom of the rear side. The new laptop has two USB-C ports with DisplayPort 1.4 + Power Delivery, HDMI 2.1, and USB-A 5 Gbps on the right side, and a 3.5 mm audio jack, USB-A 5 Gbps, and MicroSD reader on the left side.

Keypad & Touchpad

The keyboard features the same design and looks similar to its predecessor and has a touchpad measuring 12.5 x 8 cm. Both the Touchpad and Keypad are very comfortable to use and scrolling through the touchpad are very smooth. If you like to work late at night then the new HP Pavilion Plus 14 also comes with an RGB lighting keypad to ease the working experience.

Webcam

The camera installed on the new HP Pavilion Plus 14 is a 5MP webcam. The company has upgraded the resolution power in the new webcam and has added further improvements which surely help in office meetings.

Display

The new HP Pavilion Plus 14 comes with a display size of 14 inches. The display used is a 2.2K resolution LED-backlit IPS display with an aspect ratio of 16:10. Working on the display is excellent as the blue light emitted from the screen doesn't put too much strain on your eyes and allows you to use it comfortably for a longer amount of time. The viewing angles are quite broad, and the color reproduction is excellent. Given that the display has a 300 nits brightness rating, you may easily use the laptop to work outside and in natural light. Watching movies on the screen is also very comfortable and the content viewed by us was in high definition.

Processor and Performance

The 12th Gen Intel(R) Core (TM) i5-12500H, clocked at 2.50 GHz, is standard equipment for the new HP Pavilion Plus 14. The new laptop comes with Intel Iris Xe Graphics to handle the graphics tasks. To provide a better user experience, the processor is coupled with 16GB of RAM and contains 512 GB of PCIe NVMe TLC SSD M.2 SSD storage. Operating on the HP Pavilion 14 Plus is Windows 11 Home Single Language. The multi-window functionality of the HP Pavilion Plus 14 is really smooth, and there were no issues encountered while carrying out heavy tasks. When directing the laptop to open a new folder or switch between sections, the response speed is really swift. While the installed graphic card is undoubtedly not designed for intense gaming, one can still play typical games with ease. We were really pleased with the device's capacity to handle tasks during our time with the new HP Pavilion Plus 14. For graphic creation, tools like Canva, Google Pixel, Adobe Premier Pro, and Adobe Photoshop run smoothly. Two asymmetric fans and two heat pipes are included with the laptop as part of its cooling system. Even when the laptop is heated up from intense gaming, and editing you will hardly notice any sound of the fan.

Battery

The new HP Pavilion Plus 14 is powered by a 3-cell, 51 Wh Li-ion polymer with up to 11 hours and 30 minutes of video playback battery life. The laptop comes with a 90 W USB Type-C power adapter capable of charging the laptop to almost 50% in 30-40 minutes. A Type-C power adapter from a smartphone may also be used to charge a laptop, although the charging pace will be slow. While reviewing we found out that the battery lasts 5 hours easily.

Verdict

The new HP Pavilion Plus 14 is priced at Rs. 78,999. The HP Pavilion Plus 14 surely heats the competition in the segment in which it falls due to the presence of the 12th Generation Intel Corei5 processor. The company could have made the new HP Pavilion Plus 14 a total favorite by using the i7 processor.
